Our Swedish/Relaxation or Deep Tissue Massages are offered in single or couple’s sessions. Relax and detox in the sauna retreat and outdoor garden and when it’s time you will be taken to your private room where you can take a moment to discuss your thoughts about your experience with your therapist. For this reason, no two massages at Thermae are truly alike. Your massage will incorporate elements of relaxation and Swedish or deep tissue which goes deeper into sore muscles and best for stagnant areas in the body. Your therapist may also include a hot stone, essential oils or warm towels depending on what your body needs.

Prepare your heart, mind and soul for your beautiful birthing journey by relaxing the mind and the muscles of the body in preparation. Take time to be quiet and cared for with our Pre-Natal Massage. Begin with a geranium and cedar foot scrub to soften sore feet. Next a custom massage, 60 or 90 minutes. Our maternity massage focuses on calming tension, improving circulation and releasing the back. Your therapist may introduce props and pillows to further cocoon you in relaxation and comfort. Warm towels, hot stones or essential oils may be used. End with a cup of herbal tea in the meditation room or the garden.

Heated basalt river rocks alone or in combination with hot salt rocks are placed on the body’s key energy points to stimulate and invigorate. Radiant heat soothes aches and tension. Increased blood flow draws out toxins, oxygenates and brings nutrients to targeted areas. This healing art form helps cleanse negativity and emanates healing power. This unique therapy is a rejuvenating and deeply relaxing topical application that combines the science of aromatherapy with light stroke massage. Essential Oils stimulate all of your body’s systems on a physical and emotional level. Your therapist gently uses specific essential oils along your spine, back, feet and shoulders. The oils are worked into the skin using soft, feather-like movements and strokes. This not only releases muscle tightness and pain without force and restores immediate physical well being, but also sets in motion healing processes that you will feel for weeks.

Thermae’s Hot Thai Herbal Balls with Swedish Massage is offered in single or couple’s sessions. Relax and detox in the sauna retreat and outdoor garden and when it’s time for your journey, your therapist will pluck you away. Your massage incorporates a combination of Swedish and Thai herbal ball massage. The ball ‘herbal pressing sphere’ is organic medicinal and healing herbs wrapped in a cotton cloth that is steam-heated to draw out the essential oils of the herb mixture. Used as a tool, it works the knots out of tight muscles & ligaments; especially the neck, upper back and shoulders, moves the lymphatic system and restores a balance to your energy flow. The aromatherapy creates a calming, harmonious effect in the body.

This experience is designed to combine the benefits of massage, energy work and sound therapy. Swedish or deeper pressure massage combined with warm towels with essential oils release tight, tense muscles. Penetrating frequencies from the gong, crystal bowls and various healing instruments bring about the transition of cellular realignment through the medium of sound. The combined power of these healing arts help the body, mind and spirit let go of stagnant energy while restoring an overall sense of serenity and well-being.

Craniosacral Therapy, or CST, is a light-touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. CST releases tensions deep in your body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. Using a gentle touch – starting with about the weight of a nickel – your practitioner will evaluate your internal environment. He then uses distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions he finds. By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CST naturally eliminates your pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being. Because it’s so gentle, CST can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

Cupping is essentially, the inverse of massage. Rather than applying pressure to muscles, the suction of the cups uses pressure to pull the skin, tissue and muscles upward. It enhances circulation, relieves pain, removes “heat” in the body and extracts toxins from the body’s tissue. In Chinese medicine, pain is a result of stagnation. During a cupping treatment, old stagnant blood is brought to the surface so that new blood can flow more smoothly through your body. This therapy causes the skin to temporarily turn red, blue or purple. This is a sign that the therapy is doing its work, especially if there is an injury or energetic blockage under the area that is cupped.

Sports Massage refers to ‘a collection of massage techniques performed on athletes or active individuals for the purpose of aiding recovery or treating pathology.’ Simply, it is massage designed to help active people prevent and address injuries while engaging in their favorite sport.

Myofascial Release is a deep connective tissue massage; a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to the skin to detect connective tissue restrictions; in order to eliminate pain and restore motion. Results are typically seen after the first session but it is recommended for a series of 2 to 10 sessions for maximum benefits.

Neuromuscular Therapy techniques deactivate trigger points that cause pain, weakness, and limited flexibility. NMT is also defined as a way to balance the central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system to correct any disorders as a result of imbalances between the two. The therapist locates and diffuses the trigger points of pain through applying pressure to those locations. This process relieves the pain and also relaxes the muscles associated with the discomfort. During the therapy session stretching may take place with the muscles that have been relaxed. The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes this form of massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury.

Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying different amounts of pressure to the feet, hands, and ears. It’s based on a theory that these body parts are connected to certain organs and body systems.

Table Thai is a complete, whole-body Thai massage treatment done on a table. Thai Bodywork is more than just physical stretching. It achieves a deep therapeutic effect without force through a smooth-flowing sequence of moves, done rhythmically, to work the entire body, all the joints and main muscle groups as well as energy meridians, using several touch techniques. The whole treatment is dance-like and meditative, resulting in relief from pain, greater flexibility, flow of energy, deep relaxation, and feeling of well-being. Please wear comfortable loose clothing or yoga attire.

Crystalline Clearing Massage For 30 minutes before your massage begins this experience sets sacred space by taking you to a surrendered state bringing alignment to the energy body allowing it to ground into the physical body opening it up to be more receptive to a deeper relaxation experience during the massage. Your 60 Minute Swedish massage will follow, and your therapist may incorporate hot stones, essential oils or warm towels depending on what your body needs.

Fire & Ice Massage: An amazingly healing massage experience; Swedish massage is combined with heated stones that soothe aches and tension; increase blood flow, and oxygenate and bring nutrients to targeted areas. They say one stroke with a hot stone is equal to 10 strokes with a hand. The use of cold stones adds a third layer to this massage by cooling down the muscles and skin which feels soothing, calming and rejuvenating throughout the body. Cold stones can reduce inflamed swelling, decrease muscle spasms, and act as a powerful decongestant for the body.

4 Handed Massage: The experience with two Master Therapists working in tandem is like a beautiful symphony. This massage takes healing and relaxation to another level. Four expert hands kneading and releasing tight muscles, long strokes down the back, is an experience like no other. Choose Swedish or Deep Tissue. Hot stones may be placed on a tight muscles, warm towels and essential oils are added to make this experience transformative.

The main task of the lymphatic system is to keep the immune system operating well while cleaning and nourishing all the cells in the body, no matter what their function. A poorly functioning lymphatic system can affect every part of the body. Lymph nodes which are found in the neck, abdomen, groin and armpit manufacture the cells that allow the body to remove toxins, irregular cells, and fight off infections. Since the lymphatic system doesn't have any way to move the fluid on its own, it relies on the movement from muscles in the body to push the fluid along. This treatment helps with an array of imbalances from acne, eczema, edema, fatigue, sleep disorders, chronic pain, IBS, celiac and Crohn’s disease to rheumatology disorders, like arthritis and osteoporosis, and neurologic problems such as migraines and vertigo. This treatment is also a powerful tool to help the body eliminate or detox the body and help with any stagnation in your lymphatic system. An infrared sauna session is offered after treatment to continue the detox process.
